Family Friendly Things to Do at Bainland Lodge Retreats

If you’re on the lookout for a getaway the whole family will enjoy – you’ve come to the right place. Our haven here at Bainland Lodge Retreats is teeming with family-friendly activities and adventure outings, perfect for getting teens off tech and out enjoying nature more.

Not only are there a myriad of lodges at Bainland perfect for families – including lakeside lodges, glamorous villas, glamping tents and woodland cabins – you’re also neatly tucked away within 45-acres of stunning rewilded grounds in the heart of tranquil Lincolnshire. Each lodge at Bainland has its own private deck, fire-pit, al fresco hot-tub, outdoor swimming pool or lake – and did we mention that most of our lodges are dog-friendly too?

So, whether you fancy roasting marshmallows under the moonlight, hiring bikes for a cycle ride, having an afternoon swim, a game of tennis, or a leisurely stroll – we’ve rounded up some unique, memory-making activities and fun family-friendly things to do during your stay.

  1. Dine at The Nest

Brand new to Bainland is The Nest – a super cool restaurant, bar, & outdoor terrace which features a bistro-inspired, family-friendly menu to satisfy your family’s cravings any time of day. With its reclaimed open kitchen, stylish interiors, comfy chairs and wool blanket collection for cooler days – The Nest is a brilliant addition to the Bainland experience and a must-try during your stay.

  1. Explore The Stores

The Stores is a new on-site farm shop and perfect place to pick up any supplies you’ll need  – especially if you want to cook on your fire-pit or pick up fresh baked bread croissants. What’s more – The Stores is stocked with delicious produce from local suppliers – think Lincolnshire Plum Bread ice cream from Dennetts down the road, Stokes Coffee from Lincoln and Jenny’s Jams from Jenny who lives nearby! Best of all though as the jars of old fashion sweets for the ultimate pick and mix treat the whole family will love.

  1. Outdoor adventure playground

Another new addition for Summer 2022, is a huge new outdoor adventure playground – providing a world of opportunity for your little ones to romp around, make new friends, and get in some much-needed outdoor fun. Designed by specialist natural playground company, Touchwood Play, younger guests can now swing, see-saw, sway, climb and crawl, in, out and over logs, hollows, beams and towers – and you can even keep an eye on them from The Nest’s perfectly positioned terrace.

  1. Street karting and mini 4×4 Land Rover experience

At Bainland, we’ve specially curated an exciting track where the little ones can take the wheel with a mini 4×4 Land Rover experience. With an instructor on hand, smaller guests can enjoy driving just like mum and dad in a completely safe environment. So, if they’ve always dreamt of being in the driving seat, they’ll love this adventurous 4×4 experience.

If the big kids fancy something a bit more competitive – we also provide instructor-led street karting sessions for all ages. Lean in to the twists and turns of our track and be the first to cross the finish line!

  1. Get competitive on the court or field

If you fancy a little friendly competition between family, look no further. With our complimentary on-site tennis and badminton courts, we provide rackets, balls, shuttlecocks, and everything you need for a few games during your stay. Not only is it a great family bonding activity, but it’s a great way to keep fit – and have fun while doing so! What’s more – we also provide instructor-led football sessions for all ages and archery classes for those over the age of 8 who want to channel their inner Robin Hood.

  1. Explore the scenic trails

Put on your exploring hats and discover the abundance of gorgeous trails, reserves, woodlands, and wildlife that resides at Bainland – either on foot or by bike. We offer a range of bikes for hire to suit all ages, including trikes and bike seats. Better yet – most of the routes are dog-friendly too, so even your furry family members can join in the fun. With no shortage of stunning scenery, this corner of the Wolds begs to be explored!

  1. Interact with the resident goats, hens, and rescue llamas

A stay at Bainland Lodge Retreats isn’t complete without spending part of your days with our resident goats, hens, and rescue llamas. Always friendly and waiting to say hello – you can meet them face-to-face, find out their stories, and enjoy a hands-on wildlife experience right on the doorstep of your lodge. Plus, who wouldn’t want to get up close and personal with some of the region’s most loved animals!

  1. Find the perfect accommodation for your family

Sleeping from four to 24, our gorgeous family-friendly lodges, lakeside cabins, and safari tents provide the perfect space for families to unwind and enjoy the quiet rural landscape. There are also two stunning luxury villas, The English Garden Villa and The English Country Villa, with their very own outdoor heated swimming pools which offer 12 ensuite bedrooms – ideal for multi-generational family gatherings.
