Three generations, one luxury lodge and a whole day to enjoy together. From breakfast and outdoor adventures to family swims, countryside walks, afternoon tea and cosy evenings in your lodge, discover how a multigenerational family day at Bainland could unfold.
We all know that bringing several generations together works best when everyone has room to enjoy the holiday in their own way. Our family-friendly lodges are designed with exactly that in mind, offering generous living spaces where groups can stay together without feeling on top of one another.
All our lodges feature private hot tubs and enclosed outdoor areas, while larger villas can accommodate up to 24 guests, ideal for bigger family celebrations and get-togethers. We’re also cat and dog friendly, so no family member is left behind!
So, what could a perfect family day at Bainland look like for you?

No school run, no packed lunches, no frantic hunts for that annoying missing sock, water bottle or favourite toy. Just a slower start to the day for all, with nowhere else you need to be.
Wake up in comfort and gently ease into the morning. Throw open the bifold doors, step outside and let the day begin. Grandparents might savour a quiet coffee on the decking while the rest of the family wakes up, parents can enjoy the rare luxury of a completely unhurried morning, and the children will probably be ready to get outside before anyone else has even thought about the day ahead.
Then there’s the all-important question: what’s for breakfast?
Head to The Nest for a proper breakfast and take your pick from a menu designed to suit every taste. Grown-ups can settle in over a full English, buttermilk pancakes, Eggs Benedict, smoked salmon on sourdough or smashed avocado, while pastries offer a lighter start for those looking for a small bite to eat. Pair it with a fresh smoothie, traditional breakfast tea or coffee, or, for those who are already embracing the holiday spirit, a breakfast Bellini!
There’s plenty for younger appetites, too, from mini full English breakfasts and pancakes to porridge, toast, eggs, bacon and hash browns. They can wash it all down with a creamy milkshake, apple juice, cordial or a fruity smoothie.
With everyone fed and happy, there’s time to linger over another freshly brewed coffee, catch up on the plans and decide what the day will bring.
Breakfast is done, wellies are on, and there’s a whole 45 acres waiting to be explored! There’s no need to squeeze every activity into one morning, but choose something that gets the whole family excited, head outside and make the most of being together.
Get competitive with a game of badminton, test your aim with archery, explore the estate by bike or take on the climbing wall. Younger adventurers can let off steam in the natural adventure play area, while Mini Land Rovers and Crazi-Bugz offer plenty of excitement for little thrill-seekers.
With several generations joining in, expect a few surprises along the way. Granddad might discover a hidden talent for archery. Mum could become the family’s number one cheerleader. Dad might take the climbing wall far more seriously than anyone expected. And the kids? They’ll certainly be asking when they can have another go!
For families who prefer to take things at a gentler pace, there’s just as much to enjoy. Wander along woodland paths, explore the cycle routes or simply take a leisurely stroll through the estate and enjoy the Lincolnshire countryside.
Whatever you choose, the morning is all about getting outside, trying something new and creating the kind of family moments you’ll still be talking about long after the holiday is over.
Some of Bainland’s instructor-led activities need to be booked in advance, so it’s worth choosing your favourites before you arrive.
After a morning of adventures, venture to the onsite Spa. Sink into the heated indoor pool and enjoy family swimming sessions, cool off and have fun together. Little ones can splash and play, parents can join in, and grandparents can sit back and enjoy watching the action or get involved themselves.
For families with younger guests, parent and infant sessions can also offer a gentler way to introduce little swimmers to the water, while private pool hire is available for larger groups who would prefer a little extra space and privacy.
If you’re staying in one of our luxury villas with a private swimming pool, you don’t even need to leave your lodge. Take an early-morning dip, let the children burn off some energy before lunch or simply enjoy the freedom of having your own pool ready whenever the mood takes you.
After a morning of adventures, everyone is likely to be ready for lunch. The only question is where you want to enjoy it.
For a relaxed meal, head to The Nest and choose from a selection of dishes to tempt hungry children, treat the grandparents or simply let someone else take care of lunch.
Savour comforting favourites and lighter options, from soup of the day, Caesar salad and fish pie to double smash burgers and classic ham, egg and chips. There are sandwiches, ciabattas and sharing platters for those who can’t quite decide, too.
Younger diners have their own menu packed with familiar favourites, including chicken strips, fish goujons, mini beef burgers and sausage and chips, with beans or peas on the side. And, naturally, there’s always room for dessert.
However, if the thought of rounding up the whole family and heading back out after a busy morning feels like a herculean task, opt for our in-lodge dining service, Copper Goose and have lunch brought straight to your lodge. Choose from filling breakfast baps and sandwiches, burgers, salads, pizzas, hot dogs, pub classics and sharing dishes, with drinks ranging from iced lattes and cappuccinos to milkshakes and something a little stronger for grown-ups.
It’s especially handy when little legs are tired, younger guests have reached the “I don’t want to go anywhere” stage, or everyone simply wants to stay in their pyjamas a little longer. Take the opportunity to recharge before the afternoon’s adventures begin.

One of the greatest pleasures of a multigenerational holiday is realising that you don’t have to do everything together. After lunch, everyone can enjoy the afternoon in their own way. Grandparents might fancy a quiet wander or some well-earned relaxation, while parents make the most of their time at The Spa. The children, meanwhile, may be more interested in getting back outside and squeezing in another adventure.
Everyone gets the freedom to choose what they enjoy, before naturally coming back together later in the day.
When the sun is shining, hop on two wheels and explore the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside. Our bike hire makes it easy for the whole family to get out and about, whether you’re planning a proper adventure or simply fancy a leisurely ride.
For something a little more adventurous, climb aboard one of our brand-new, heavy-duty all-terrain Segways and set off on an adventure. Wind your way through the woodland and keep an eye out for donkeys, hens and goats as you explore

If you’re looking for some friendly competition, our brand-new table tennis table is ready and waiting, or if speed is more your thing, get ready to race with our instructor-led street karting sessions!
When the weather undoubtedly takes a turn, head to our Games Lounge for a game of American pool or an hour of interactive darts, with a choice of games to keep the whole family entertained.

There are miles of peaceful countryside to discover, with woodland walks, nature trails and scenic routes all close by.
For an easy-going stroll, the Spa Trail is just a short walk from Bainland. This flat, surfaced trail winds through woodland and open countryside, with plenty to see along the way. Or head to Woodhall Spa Woods, where accessible paths lead through woodland and is a lovely place to spot wildlife and finish with a visit to the much-loved Kinema in the Woods.
Just a few minutes away, Woodhall Spa itself is made for an afternoon of pottering. Browse independent shops and stop for tea and cake. Golfers are particularly well catered for here too. The area is home to the National Golf Centre and two celebrated courses, the Hotchkin and the Bracken, making it a wonderful destination for a round in beautiful surroundings.
For those who enjoy a little history, venture to Lincoln, where centuries of history, magnificent architecture, and places to eat make for an enjoyable day out. Alternatively, Lincolnshire’s coast is within easy reach. Stroll along the promenade at Sutton-on-Sea, enjoy the seaside charm of Skegness, or escape to the quieter sands of Moggs Eye and Saltfleet. Explore the dunes and birdlife around the coast and enjoy the wide-open skies and fresh sea air. There are local National Trust places to discover too, from historic houses and gardens to expansive parkland and countryside.
Of course, you don’t have to go anywhere at all. After a day exploring, come back to your lodge, put your feet up and enjoy the peace and quiet. Pour yourself a drink, sink into the sofa, light the log burner or soak in the hot tub beneath the evening sky.
When you spend your days keeping active kids entertained, a little time together can feel like the ultimate luxury. Simply enjoy some grown-up time at The Spa and leave family adventures behind for a couple of hours.
Unwind in the heated indoor pool, drift between the thermal wet spa, sauna and steam room, or stretch out on heated loungers. For a little fresh air, step outside to discover the outdoor hot tubs, sauna and ice bath, with space to sit back and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Better still, make it a proper date and book one of our Spa Experiences. Choose a Morning, Afternoon or Twilight session and enjoy two uninterrupted hours with full access to our indoor and outdoor spa facilities. Robes, towels and flip-flops are provided, so all you need to do is arrive, relax and reconnect. The Twilight experience is particularly tempting, with the spa taking on a quieter, more peaceful feel as the evening sets in. Spa treatments are also available, from relaxing massages to ELEMIS facials, giving you the opportunity to switch off and leave feeling completely refreshed.

Bring all the family back together for afternoon tea. Take a seat, settle in and let our chefs take care of the rest, with a freshly prepared spread made in-house using local Lincolnshire produce.
There’s something for everyone, from finger sandwiches with signature fillings, alongside pork and apple sausage rolls, sun-dried tomato, basil and mozzarella quiche and a selection of freshly baked scones, served with strawberry preserve and clotted cream. Kids can tuck into their favourite sweet treats while the grown-ups catch up over a pot of tea.
Pause between adventures, give little legs a rest and bring the whole family around one table.

If you’re visiting during October half term, there’s no better time to embrace the beauty of the countryside.
Take a gentle stroll around the estate, letting little ones run ahead while grandparents enjoy a more leisurely wander. While some of the family head off exploring, others can take a slower stroll, find a cosy spot for a warm drink or simply enjoy the peace and fresh country air while heading back to a private lodge.
As soon as you’re all back at the lodge, kick off your muddy wellies, take off woolly hats and heavy coats, and sink into the warmth of your bubbly hot tub. Set on your enclosed deck or terrace, it’s the perfect place to round off an autumn day together. The children can unwind, the grown-ups can relax, grandparents can put their feet up, and the whole family can slow down, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy being together.

Perhaps you’re celebrating Dad’s 60th, Grandma’s 70th or a special anniversary, or maybe it’s simply one of those occasions when three generations have managed to get everyone together under one roof. Whatever the reason, Bainland gives you the space to turn an ordinary family holiday into something worth remembering!
As evening arrives, book a relaxed family meal at The Nest, order dinner straight to your lodge or make an occasion of it with in-lodge private dining for groups of 10 or more guests. Our private chefs can create everything from multi-course menus and Sunday roasts to generous sharing platters and BBQs, bringing the restaurant experience right to you. Private bartenders can also mix cocktails in your lodge if you want to make an evening of it!
However, if nobody feels like cooking, order straight to your door with our Copper Goose delivery service. There’s something to suit everyone, and it’s especially welcome when the weather has turned, and nobody wants to venture back outside!
9pm: One Last Family MomentEventually, even the most energetic children run out of steam when the day’s adventures catch up with them, and it is time for bed. Grandparents might settle down with a book. Parents might pour themselves a final drink, or maybe there is one last dip in the hot tub beneath the stars.
Importantly, there is time for everyone to have their own little moments.
The best family holidays are the ones where everyone has the freedom to enjoy the time in their own way, as well as plenty of reasons to come back together.
Children can head off on adventures with parents and grandparents, while grown-ups find time to slow down, relax or simply enjoy a quiet coffee. Then, when it’s time to reconnect, everyone can meet for a swim, gather around the table or head back to the lodge for a soak in the hot tub.
With luxury lodges, private hot tubs, 45 acres of countryside and plenty to keep everyone entertained, whatever the weather, Bainland is made for bringing generations together. Whether you’re planning a half-term escape, celebrating a milestone birthday or finally getting the whole family together, there’s room for everyone to make the holiday their own.
Three generations, one place and, importantly, time to make memories that everyone will take home and cherish.
