Waddle this way

Lakeside locals

During your countryside escape, you’ll quickly notice our resident ducks and their adorable ducklings drifting across the lakes. They’re everywhere, in the best possible way, gliding by as if posing for the perfect photograph. Their charm brings Bainland’s stunning lakes to life, adding a little extra magic to each moment you take home with you.

Luxury living, rabbit style

The burrow club

Rabbits and bunnies are a charming sight across Bainland’s countryside escape. Always busily burrowing and exploring their perfect little homes. These clever creatures can dig tunnels up to 3 feet long, creating safe havens for themselves and their families. We’ve carefully designed our meadows and woodland edges to give them the ideal environment. You can watch them hop, play, and add a touch of gentle magic to every stroll through our grounds.

The elegant dippers

Moorhen moments

The Moorhen is seen around Bainland’s lakeside escapes, gliding across the water or darting along the reeds. Did you know these water birds can swim, dive, and even run across the surface of water for short distances? We’ve created the perfect lakeside environment for them to thrive, offering you the chance to watch their elegant movements during your countryside retreat.

homes for the tiny locals

The hidden habitat

At Bainland, our gardening team has carefully crafted dead hedging throughout the grounds, creating natural homes for countless insects and birds. Did you know that dead hedges can support over 1,000 species of invertebrates, helping to boost local biodiversity? This simple yet effective technique is part of our rewilding efforts, allowing nature to thrive while adding subtle texture to the landscape. A quiet reminder that luxury and sustainability can flourish side by side.

Treetop tunes

Little vocalists

Blue tits, great tits, and long-tailed tits flit through Bainland’s woodlands, filling the sky with days of cheerful bird song. Did you know that some species can raise up to three broods in a single season, making the right nesting spots essential! We’ve planted over 2,000 trees across the grounds, creating the perfect environment for these little birds to thrive.

beauty that blooms

Buzzing with life

Our planted wildflowers are doing more than just adding bursts of colour to the landscape, they’re a key part of our rewilding efforts. Did you know that wildflower meadows can support up to 40% more pollinators than standard grassland? By encouraging these vibrant blooms across the grounds, we’re creating a haven for bees, butterflies, and other wildlife, making Bainland an even more beautiful for our guests to enjoy.
