Cottage Museum

The Woodhall Spa Cottage Museum is a joy to explore and packed full of intriguing stories and displays about the local area, and the Wield family, who lived in the building from 1887 until the 1960s. An avid photographer, Wield documented his life and the local area, which are now the premise for the walk through time at this museum.

RAF Coningsby

An RAF Quick Reaction Alert Station that protects UK airspace, RAF Coningsby was built just before World War II and became the home of 617 Squadron, known as the Dambusters, during the second half of the war. As an active station, it is a hotspot for plane enthusiasts, with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight a real highlight.

The flyover operates Spitfires, Hurricanes, Lancasters, Dakota and Chipmunk aircrafts flown by active RAF personnel. Between May and September, they are seen in the skies a lot as they commemorate the public and military events across the UK for airshows and flyovers. If you look up you are certain to see them flying low over Bainland.

Kinema in the woods

The Kinema in the Woods started life in the 19th Century as a sports and entertainment pavilion. It is now a charming, privately owned cinema displaying films and movies from around the world. Book tickets early and enjoy this eclectic cinema experience in the heart of the woods that is perfect for the whole family.

Tattershall Farm Park

Enjoy a fun-filled family day out at Tattershall Farm Park, one of the best Lincolnshire activities and attractions in the area, and you can get really hands-on with the interactive experiences available. See the animals as you explore the nature trail and get up close and personal with nature. Help collect eggs and meet your new barnyard friends for feeding and walks.

Woodside Wildlife Park

Woodside Wildlife Park is a premier Lincolnshire activity that all ages will love. Conservation is what drives the team at Woodside, and their love of animals can be seen as you take a trip through the park. Meet red pandas and penguins right the way through to crocodiles and big cats. Plus, every hour, you can enjoy a feeding demonstration throughout the day.

The abbey route

If history is your thing, no trip to Bainland would be complete without a visit to the remains of the abbeys that once stood proud here. In the Middles Ages, this area of Lincolnshire was dense with abbeys and monasteries and although only ruins can be seen today, they are conveniently all located close to the area’s Viking Way and spread far enough apart to make a nice bike trip.

Nocton Hall

Nocton Hall is a great day out when you want to enjoy a historical Lincolnshire activity. This building dates back to 1530 and was a private residence for many years and once home to British Prime Minister Frederick John Robinson.

The grand country manor was transformed during the war times into a hospital in both the First and Second World Wars, playing a crucial role in treating many injured soldiers for decades. Years later, it became victim to a deadly fire that is now shrouded in mystery, and it is said that ghosts walk the halls.
