Best Things to Do in Lincolnshire this Summer

Lincolnshire might be known for its amazing beaches, nature reserves, picturesque villages, and the majestic Lincoln Cathedral, but it is also Lincolnshire’s charm, character, and bucket loads of history that make this county the perfect place to be for the UK’s best events this summer.

If we can tempt you away from your hot tub retreat, you’ll find that most of this summer’s best events and attractions are right on our doorstep. Will you choose to be transported back to the 1940s, soak up the rich heritage of Lincoln, or just enjoy celebrating the summer weather in your own luxury lodge at Bainland?

Here are our recommendations for the best things to do in Lincolnshire this Summer:

1. Jubilee Beacon Lighting and Supper at International Bomber Command Centre (2nd June 2022)

With the commemoration of Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee fast approaching, marking an extraordinary 70 years of service, we’re sure you’re wondering how to properly celebrate this first-of-a-kind milestone.

More than 1,500 beacons will be lit throughout the UK, Isle of Man, Channel Islands, and UK Overseas Territories, as well as one in each of the 54 capital cities of the Commonwealth countries in recognition of Her Majesty’s long and selfless service.

Head down to Lincoln’s International Bomber Command Centre (IBCC), just 30 minutes from Bainland, to witness one of these remarkable beacons being lit to celebrate the momentous anniversary. After this, you can raise a glass (or cuppa!) to our Queen while you enjoy dinner that will be served in the IBCC Events Marquee, as you listen to a performance by the IBCC Choir and Orchestra.

Tickets start from £10 for children (aged 5-16), and £20 for adults.

2. The Lincolnshire Show (22nd & 23rd June 2022)

In its 137th year of celebrations, The Lincolnshire Show is a true merriment of all that is great about Lincolnshire – highlighting the county’s rich heritage, agriculture, and outstanding products and produce.

This must-see flagship event, arguably one of the UK’s best events this summer, takes place at Lincolnshire Showground just 45 minutes from Bainland. There is something for the whole family to enjoy, from spectacular entertainment in the Main Ring and fresh local produce in the Food Court, to a huge selection of local art, handmade crafts, and overall stunning scenery.

The event is dog-friendly too (if they’re kept on a lead) and there’s even a dog creche available behind the Food Court!

Advanced tickets start at £7 for children (under 5’s go free!), £22 for adults, and £55 for families up to five.
