Settle in and explore the extensive
facilities that Bainland Country Park has to offer. Then, using the park as the perfect base, discover all the great attractions that the local area has available for you to enjoy:
1. The delightful Edwardian Spa Town of Woodhall Spa, 1.5 miles from the park, has a Championship Golf Course considered one of the best in the country. The town also has the Cottage Museum, which tells the history of the Spa. St. Leonard, built amongst the ruins of Kirkstead Abbey, is possibly the most perfect example of a 13th century church anywhere and there are also angling opportunities at the rivers Bain and Witham. Also at Woodhall Spa is the inimitable Kinema in the Woods (see below).

2. The picturesque and historic town of Lincoln, 30 minutes drive from the park, is rightly famous for both its cathedral and its castle. Towering above the town, the cathedral (where they filmed parts of The Da Vinci Code) is one of the finest medieval buildings in Europe, most of it dating from the 13th century. The castle, built by William the Conqueror, was used as a court and prison for 900 years and the full circuit of curtain walls that remain gives stunning views of the cathedral, the town and the surrounding countryside.

4. Being lovingly looked after for over 80 years, Kinema in the Woods is to be found in the centre of Woodhall Spa. It is unique amongst all the cinemas in Britain and not only because of its setting in the pine trees. Although showing modern films, Kinema uses a rear projection system, serves old-fashioned sweets and has organ accompaniment.
